Des Moines will have its eighth annual Oktoberfest from September 23rd to the 24th in the Court Avenue district. Here is the press release from In Any Event, the event planners and one of the sponsors:
The eighth annual Des Moines’ Oktoberfest event September 23th and 24th in the heart of the Court District downtown. The event is held on the doorstep of the Hessen Haus – Des Moines’ only German restaurant and Bier Hall. Fourth Street will be closed South of Court Avenue on Friday and Saturday to accommodate the event which includes tented beer gardens, the region’s finest Polka bands, authentic German food, contests and more. Beer sponsors include Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, and Leinenkugel’s. The Leinenkugel Oktoberfest beer is really worth trying. The fun begins TODAY, Saturday, September 24th at 4 p.m.
Unlike our Omaha neighbor to the west, Des Moines does not seem to have competing Oktoberfest options, at least none that I can find. So, make the most of the opportunity that we have!
